Horseback Riding & Trails
Our horseback riding stables is a family attraction for Smoky mountain guests and neighbors alike. Horseback riding on over 500 acres with horses, cowboys, cowgirls keep the action going year round. There is plenty of excitement and adventure for the entire family no matter your horseback riding skills even if you’ve never ridden. We ride when flowers are blooming in the spring, lightning bugs are glowing and bears are roaming in the summer, leaves are turning in the fall, and snow is falling in the winter. All our seasons are different and offer great scenery. There are all kinds of wildlife from small turtles, chipmunks, and birds to turkeys, deer, and bears. From our Valley Hill ride to our Sunset Dinner ride we are sure you’ll find a horseback riding trail best suited to your sense of adventure.
All of our horse trails are at least 6 feet wide and kept up routinely for the ease of our horses and comfort of our guests. Helmets are available in our gift shop for the safety of our riders. Doubling is allowed for children 20-40 lbs. A cowboy or cowgirl guide will help you mount your horse with the help of easy loading ramps and go over riding instructions with each individual before beginning your guided horse trail. Your cowboy or cowgirl guide will entertain and assist you on your western adventure.
Valley Hill Ride
Our Valley Hill Trail is about 1 hour long, and great for all ages and abilities, even first time riders. This trail starts off nice and flat as it will pass across the valleys, over a couple wooden bridges and splash thru Waldens Creek. You will pass alongside the original homestead on the farm built in 1903, where you will go up and travel along the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. The trail is shaded. Children 20-40lbs can double with a parent. Weight limit maximum of 240lbs for single riders (220lbs for combined double weight). Weather Permitting. Please call for reservations, walkin's are available for this trial.

This trail takes approximately 1 ½ hours. It’s a great ride for beginners who want to view the mountains. This trail ride adventure begins by riding thru the valley and splashing thru Waldens Creek. As you approach the base of the mountain you will get to see the original homestead on the farm built in the early 1900’s. As you continue your adventure you will ride halfway up Waldens Mountain seeing mountain and valley views along the way. Hidden back in the holler, you will get to ride by the old moonshine still which was last operated in the 1960’s. As the trail leads out of the mountain you will cross thru Waldens Creek 3 more times and over some country wooden bridges. Call for reservations or walkin's are taken daily for this trail.

This trail is good for children 10 years and older and for adults who have ridden a few or more times that feel comfortable on a horse. This trail takes approximately 2 hours begins by riding across the valleys and splashing thru Waldens Creek. As you approach the mountains you get to see the original homestead on the farm built in the early 1900’s. Most of your adventure will take place in the mountains where it will be shaded and you will have the opportunity to see some wildlife. As you and your horse ride up the mountain you will get to enjoy some of the most scenic views in the Smoky Mountains. When you reach the top ridge of the mountain you will get the opportunity to take a photo of your group with the beautiful mountain tops in the background. Beginning your journey down the mountain you will ride alongside one of the ranches mountain fed steams. As you continue into the valley you will cross Waldens Creek 3 more times and ride over country wooden bridges before returning to the stables.

This trail takes approximately 3.5 hours, is perfect for anyone who is up for the real cowboy adventure and has horse riding experience. From crossing thru the valleys to riding on top of the mountain, you will get to see almost all of our ranch’s 500 acres. This exciting trail crosses thru Waldens Creek and rides along the top ridge of the mountain where you are more apt to see wildlife such as deer, turkeys, and bears. Along this trail you will get to see not only the beautiful Smoky Mountain views, but also the old homestead built in the early 1900’s and the moonshine still their family operated for many years. You will ride out of the holler and into the valley where you get to cross thru and ride alongside Waldens Creek. As you approach the barn you will cross over country wooden bridges and get to lead your horse to water.
